History
In the middle of the 14th century, when the settlement of Zakynthos took place under the supervision of the Venetians (then rulers of the Ionian Islands), the High Commissioner appointed a responsible Frank for the village.
He lived in what was then a mansion at the top of the hill that Villa Fragiata dominates today from where they had a view of the whole village and the surrounding entrance and exit roads of the area.
The hill was called Fragiata and the name has been recorded to this day.
